ABOUT YOLI TAMU
Hello. I ’m Yoli Tamu. I’m an inspirational speaker, an educator, a songwriter, and a nonprofit founder. I believe in the powerful influence of a strong mother-daughter relationship. I have witnessed too many young women suffer emotionally as a result of being disconnected from their mothers during an important time in their youth development. Although my mother sometimes struggled with nurturing me, I did know I was loved and I benefited from her ability to recognize my gifts and help develop them. It is my desire to help young women experience the power of NURTURING and GIFT DEVELOPMENT from their mothers!
How Can I Help? My goal is to give you the keys I’ve learned to help mothers and teen daughters experience a GENUINE HEART TO HEART RELATIONSHIP and unite in a way they may have never thought possible. I’m excited to show you both powerful ways to communicate as you repair, maintain, and transform a mediocre or toxic relationship into an unbreakable bond that stands the test of time!
These possibilities are closer than you think and I have a 5-step approach in my program that will help you do the following:
Live life with PASSION
Make sure you AFFIRM your life every day
Realize the value of FAMILY RITUALS
Harness the POWER OF YOUR EXAMPLE
ENJOY, not fear, the roller coaster ride of life and your relationships
TRUST that everything you need, you already have
Why Me? I’ve spend the past 17 years as an educator, teaching elementary and high school students, which means I know the challenges young people face growing up in this world. I have four Clear California Professional Teaching Credentials in Music, Mathematics, Drama, as well as Multiple Subjects. I acquired my Masters of Education Degree for Cross-Cultural Teaching from National University in La Jolla, California, and my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Musical Theatre from Howard University in Washington, DC.
I am a student of the world, having performed abroad in Hong Kong, China and Kobe, Japan, where I also taught a Jazz Vocal workshop to Japanese high school students. I’m also a recording artist and I co-wrote and performed the theme song, “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Sunshine,” for the movie “Deliver Us From Eva” starring LL Cool J and Gabrielle Union. I blend my loves of the creative process with education through my Unity Theatre Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps to inspire high school students through self-empowerment and career development workshops.
My Journey? The theme of my inspirational speeches and coaching programs is to focus on creating an unbreakable commitment to oneself, so it will be easier to establish an unbreakable bond with someone else. As a daughter, niece, aunt, educator, and performer, I’ve seen the importance of valuing one another by offering open, genuine, and compassionate conversation with the young women in our lives of older mothers and daughters. We are truly unstoppable generations of women that can help ourselves and the communities of women around us. In fact, it is our responsibility.
As a result, I decided to create HeartVERSATIONS for women around the world who are in search of ways to reconnect with their daughters and the young women in their lives. This bold, enlightening, and courageous program seeks to challenge and awaken powerful women of all ages to the power that belongs to them and needs to be shared.
If you are ready to UNCOVER YOU to DISCOVER HER, so the two of you can THRIVE TOGETHER, then I invite you to join me as I do my very best to create unbreakable mother-daughter bonds that will last a lifetime!
